Ingredients

  • 1 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 2 8-ounce packages refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

Cook the Sausage:

  • Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat, about 10 minutes.
  • Drain the grease and let the sausage cool completely.

Prepare the Dough:

  • Lay a sheet of wax paper on the counter and lightly coat it with cooking spray.
  • Unroll one crescent roll package onto the wax paper, pressing the perforations together to create a single sheet.

Assemble the Pinwheels:

  • Spread half the cream cheese evenly across the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle half the cooked sausage and half the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the cream cheese.

Roll and Chill:

  • Roll the dough tightly lengthwise to form a log, using the wax paper to help roll.
  • Wrap the log in plastic wrap and repeat the process with the second crescent roll sheet and remaining ingredients.
  • Chill the logs in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up.

Slice and Bake:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Remove the logs from the refrigerator, unwrap, and slice each log into 1/2-inch-thick pieces with a sharp knife.
  • Place the slices on a baking sheet, spacing them 1 inch apart.
  • Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and cooked through.

Cool and Serve:

  • Allow the pinwheels to cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Make Ahead: The logs can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the fridge until ready to bake.
Additions: Add chopped green onions or red pepper flakes to the filling for extra flavor.
Substitutions: Crescent roll sheets can be used in place of perforated dough for easier preparation.
